1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the iOS application “Sudoku Zen” (the “App”). The App requires no account, offers no cloud sync, and contains no in-app advertising or in-app purchases.
In short: game progress stays on your device. At startup, the App connects to online services and uses device identifiers for service initialization, new-user recognition, and advertising attribution. The App accesses and uses the IDFA only if you allow tracking.
2. Data Processed on Your Device
To provide Sudoku features and preserve progress, the App uses iOS local preference storage for:
- Puzzles, entered numbers, candidate notes, undo history, and current game state;
- Difficulty, active play time, score, mistakes, and hints used;
- Daily Challenge dates, completion records, and local game identifiers;
- Statistics such as games started and completed, best and average times, high scores, and mistake-free results; and
- Language, appearance, haptics, timer, highlighting, note cleanup, and mistake-checking preferences.
The App also reads the device language to select its interface and request language, and uses the local device date for Daily Challenges. Game data and preferences are not included in the startup request sent to the developer's server.
3. Data Processed Online
At startup, the App contacts an initialization service over an encrypted connection and may process:
- IDFV (Identifier for Vendor): used to recognize the App installation or user status on the device and make the initialization request;
- IDFA (Advertising Identifier): accessed only after you allow tracking in iOS, and used for advertising attribution and campaign measurement; refusal does not prevent core Sudoku play;
- Adjust ID (ADID): an attribution identifier generated by the Adjust SDK;
- Device and technical data: system language, IP address, request time, and app- and device-related technical information; and
- Attribution and usage events: installation, session, and configured app events used to understand acquisition sources, measure campaign performance, and maintain the service.
The initialization service may return user status and URLs for legal, informational, or onboarding pages. The current version does not upload your Sudoku board, notes, scores, game history, name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location, or payment information to that service.
4. Tracking Permission and Your Choices
On first launch, the App requests permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework. If you agree, the App and Adjust may use the IDFA to associate installations or events with campaigns across other companies' apps or websites. If you decline, the IDFA is not made available to the App, but the App may still use the IDFV, Adjust ID, and non-advertising information for basic attribution, service initialization, fraud prevention, and measurement.
You can change your choice at any time in iOS under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Limiting tracking does not erase information previously processed lawfully. See Section 10 to make a deletion request.
5. Third-Party Services and External Pages
- Adjust: The App uses the Adjust SDK for install attribution and campaign measurement. Depending on permission and SDK configuration, Adjust may process device identifiers, IP address, device and app information, installations, sessions, and event data. See the Adjust Privacy Policy.
- Apple: Apple independently handles App Store downloads, store accounts, ATT permissions, system diagnostics, and device backups. See Apple's Privacy Policy and your device settings.
- Remote webpages: In certain circumstances, the initialization service may provide an onboarding page that opens inside the App. When it loads, its operator may receive an IP address and browser or device information, and may use cookies or similar technologies under the page's own policy. Review any privacy notice displayed there before submitting information.
6. Use, Disclosure, and Sale
We use relevant data only to provide and secure the App, initialize services, recognize installation status, troubleshoot, prevent fraud, and measure campaigns. We do not sell local game data or use game progress for personalized advertising.
For these purposes, device and attribution data may be processed on our behalf by Adjust and hosting or network providers. It may also be disclosed where required by law, needed to protect legal rights, or necessary for a business reorganization. Attribution using the IDFA with your permission may constitute “tracking” as defined by Apple.
7. Retention, Deletion, and International Processing
Local game data remains until it is overwritten through normal use, removed by iOS, or deleted when you uninstall the App or erase app/device data. The developer cannot remotely view, recover, or delete that local data. If iCloud or device backup is enabled, Apple and your system settings manage backup copies.
Online data is retained by the developer and service providers for as long as needed for the purposes described here, legal obligations, and dispute resolution, then deleted or de-identified. Because providers may operate outside your country or region, data may be processed internationally and be subject to local law.
8. Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data, including HTTPS for startup requests, and rely on iOS app isolation for local data. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. We recommend protecting your device with a passcode, keeping iOS current, and managing backups carefully.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is a general-audience puzzle game. It requires no account and is not designed to collect children's personal information. Minors should use online features or contact support with a parent or guardian. A guardian who believes a child provided unnecessary personal information may contact us as described below.
10. Your Rights and Contact
Depending on local law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of online data, withdraw consent, or object to processing. We may need to verify a request and may retain records where permitted by law.
To exercise a right, ask about this policy, or make a complaint, contact the Sudoku Zen developer/operator through the “App Support” link on the App's App Store product page. To help locate relevant data, describe the request, name the App, and provide only information necessary to identify the relevant installation or communication. Do not send passwords, verification codes, identity documents, or payment details.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when App features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The revised version will be provided through this page, an in-app notice, or release notes as appropriate, and applies from the date shown. Material changes will receive any additional notice required by applicable law.
